Introduction

Cookies are small text strings that the websites a user visits send to the user’s terminal (usually to the browser they are using), where they are stored so that they can then be transmitted back to those same websites on the user’s next visit.

It has been drawn up in compliance with the Order of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) of 8 May 2014, published in the Official Gazette no. 126 of 3 June 2014, implementing Directive 2002/58/EC, as subsequently amended.

The decision to organise the information documents in this way stems from a desire to provide users with greater clarity regarding the meaning, use and deactivation of cookies.

Cookies make it possible to record, on a semi-permanent basis, information relating to user preferences and other technical data that allow for easier navigation and greater ease of use and effectiveness of the site itself. For example, cookies may be used to determine whether a connection has already been established between the visitor’s computer and the site visited, in order to highlight new features or to retain “login” information.

Cookies (definition and general description)

Cookies are small text strings stored within the user’s browser which assist the Data Controller in providing the service in accordance with the purposes described.

While browsing a site, users may also receive on their terminal cookies sent from different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which certain elements may reside (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, or specific links to pages on other domains) that appear on the site being visited.

Cookies — usually present in users’ browsers in very large numbers and sometimes with markedly long persistence — are used for a variety of purposes: carrying out IT authentication, monitoring sessions, storing information on specific configurations concerning users who access the server, and so on. The website www.wansport.com, owned by Enterprise Digital Solutions S.r.l., uses various types of cookie: some to make use of the site more effective, others to enable certain functions.

In order to allow the use of this site and the provision of the services associated with it, the following are used:

  • persistent cookies (that is, cookies which remain in memory until they are manually deleted by the user, or for which long-term scheduled removal is provided);
  • session cookies, which are not stored persistently on the visitor’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed.

Technical cookies

In general, technical cookies are those which allow previous actions to be stored, the user’s session to be saved, or other activities strictly necessary for the operation of a site to be carried out.

Some of these cookies are essential for the correct operation of the site and allow users to browse it, view its content and make use of its features.

The wansport.com site uses technical cookies which are necessary and essential for its operation and for improving the user’s browsing experience.

The use of such cookies does not require consent to be given by the data subject.

Functionality cookies are not essential to the operation of the site, but they improve its quality and the browsing experience; if these cookies are not accepted, the performance and functionality of the site may not be optimal and access to its content may be limited.

One particular type of technical cookie is the consent-storage cookie; this cookie keeps a record of the consent given by the user to the use of cookies on this site, so that the short-form cookie notice and the request for consent are not presented again on subsequent visits.

Profiling cookies

The website www.wansport.com uses so-called “profiling” cookies (intended to create profiles relating to the user and used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by that user while browsing online), but does not use so-called “third-party” cookies (whereby, while browsing a site, cookies sent by different sites or web servers are received on the user’s device).

Following initial registration for access purposes, the user is invited to expressly accept subscription to the commercial newsletter, by means of a dedicated banner notice to be ticked as express approval.

Cookies providing interactive maps

These cookies make it possible to include customisable interactive maps within the site. This site uses Google Maps to provide detailed information on the location of its registered office.

The “cookie” banner — notice on their use

As required by the Order “Identification of simplified arrangements for the provision of information and the obtaining of consent for the use of cookies” of 8 May 2014, as subsequently amended, users must, where applicable, give their consent to the use of cookies.

On first using the application, the user will see a brief notice appear regarding the use of cookies.

By continuing to use the site, closing the information banner, clicking anywhere on the page or scrolling it to display further content, the user declares that they have taken note of the Cookie Policy of www.wansport.com and of the privacy notice concerning the processing of personal data.

The cookies set and collected by the www.wansport.com site (third-party technical cookies and third-party aggregated statistical cookies) do not require consent, but do require the use of an information tool (short-form notice), which the Data Controller has identified, for simplicity, in the banner published.

The application remembers the choice made by the user; the short-form notice will therefore not be presented again on subsequent connections from the same device.

  1. Launch the Mozilla Firefox browser

  4. Select the Privacy panel
  5. Click on Show advanced settings
  6. In the “Privacy” section, click on the Content settings button
  7. In the “Tracking” section you can change the following cookie settings:
    • Tell sites that you do not want to be tracked
    • Tell sites that you are willing to be tracked
    • Do not tell sites anything about your tracking preferences
  8. From the “History” section you can:
    • By enabling “Use custom settings”, choose to accept third-party cookies (always, from the most visited sites, or never) and to keep them for a set period (until they expire, until Firefox is closed, or to be asked each time)
    • Remove individual stored cookies
